Annoying Windows sounds

Posted on January 29th, 2007

Today I installed a Windows update that required a system restart, to my surprise I heard the Windows welcome theme was back, I disable all sounds on the computers I am working on, they are unnecessary and annoying, I suggest you do the same.
I thought it would be a good idea to post a simple way to remove the sounds, now I know this is not new but believe it or not, some people still don’t know how to do this.

To disable your default Windows sounds:

1. Click on ‘start’

2. Open ‘Control Panel’

3. Select Sound and Audio Devices

4. On the second tab ‘Sounds’, select the drop down menu and choose ‘No sounds’

5. Click ‘OK’ and you are done.

If you do this you might enjoy the silence of your home or office and the delightful, buzzing sounds of your computer.

If you have trouble with this leave a comment and again sorry for disabling instant comment but I’ve been getting a lot of spam.
